Thoughts on USUK and FrUK

I have a free evening tonight and nothing to do, so I thought I'd finally dump all my thoughts on these two parings. Just to get it said. (Yeah, I know. How productive of me)
USUK = easily the most popular Hetalia pairing. It's basically up there with Naruto/Sasuke and Sebastian/Ciel. I see it everywhere.
I don't ship it.
Now, I WILL admit that, as characters (typically in AU pieces), they are extremely cute together. Their personalities mesh adorably and I do indulge in the ocassional fic, fanart piece, and doujin. In that instance, I do like the pairing. It's very fun, and it brings out interesting sides of both Britain and America's personalities.
HOWEVER...
...as far as canon goes....no sir. As far as I'm concerned, there is absolutely nothing romantic between them.
I've heard the arguments of those who truely believe they have feelings for each other. I've seen every piece of evidence that's been offered. I'm still not convinced.
One of the main reasons people believe they have romantic feelings for each other is their history together. In the past, they were ridiculously close and loved each other very much, as brothers would, or a father and son. America brought Britain a vast amount of happiness after centuries of loneliness and abuse. In turn, America thought Britain was a wonderful big brother, and was always extremely happy to see him.
And then we've got America's Revolution/Independance. The angst was thick enough to be cut with a knife, on both their parts. Britain has stated that it left him heartbroken for centuries (indirectly, but we all knew who he meant), and that the week of the Fourth of July always basically renders him incapable of doing anything.
Then we've got more recent times between the two. On serveral occasions, Britain has awkwardly made attempts to show America kindness and friendship (which good ol' Alfred always comically shuts down), blushing along the way every time.
All this and more proves how close the two were/are, and serve as the main bulletpoints of most shippers.
What I have to say to all that is.......how is all of that different from a family relationship? At what point does it translate into anything romantic?
Britain, as we all know, is the very definition of "tsundere". He and awkwardness go hand-in-hand. His nervous actions toward America and his obvious longing to get close to him are no different than the actions of an estranged family member not knowing how to reconnect with a lost loved one. This is anime, people. Deep connections and sweet moments are not limited to just lovers.
Now let me just offer my reasons for preferring FrUK.
Most people dislike this pairing due to France's perverted nature, thinking he would only torture Britain or sexually abuse him. This typically comes from a simple dislike of France's character.
Now that's not very fair, is it?
It should be well known that there is much more to France than sparkling and running around with cat ears and a censorship rose, pulling the clothes off anything that moves.
France and Britain have known each other for over a thousand years. They grew up together. They've fought in countless battles together through the centuries. They've had a rivalry going on since they were both very young. Due to all this, their respect for each other is more than likely immeasurable. They are on much closer intellectual and historical levels. God only knows everything the two have been through together in the past.
I could definitely see some kind of spark appearing between the two in the midst of all this.
NOW FOR THE PART THAT IS STRICTLY, 500% OPINION:
The rift and arguments between America and Britain really just strike me as something that stems from one isolated incident that involves hurt and could easily be patched up with a healthy dose of family lurve. But the arguments between Britain and France seem way more like playful sexual tension, or something that an old married couple would go through.
Do not get me wrong. I am CERTAINLY not bashing anyone who ships USUK. As I stated, I do think the pairing is fun to a degree. This was mostly just a little braindump to get my thoughts said.

This is a tiny thing that's been driving me nuts: Why does everyone call Hancock "Boa"? 'Cause I'm pretty sure that's her last name. I mean's she's got two sisters with "Boa" in front of their names too. She flipped out when Luffy finally got her name right, and I doubt she'd care very much if that wasn't her first name XD

I finally find a character in One Piece that has the same name as me. I finally get to hear my name come from Sanji's lips....

....and it's a freakin' tranny!!
Oh well. At least the fantasy version had wavy blonde hair and was happy to take care of him and was basically his dream girl

But yeah, GREAT episode. I needed that laugh. As soon as he said her name, I immidiately turned and did an "In yo FACE!" to my little sister XDD I knew it'd turn out to be the transvestite from hell, but at least I had that moment, dammit!

Who knew?
But yeah, as you may have seen, I've finally been uploading deviations after forever. One Piece, of course.
Lord, this has to be one of the longest-running obsessions I've had in a very long time. Probably because it's such a huge show with so many outlets. 400+ episodes, almost 10 movies, countless songs, specials, a kickass dub, and of course.....master Oda at the helm. The man's a genius storyteller, but all One Piece fans know that.
I think I can honestly say that Monkey D. Luffy is THE best anime character in existance. Of course, all the other Strawhats are stellar characters as well. They're all just so damn unique!
SO YEAH...I finally realized that my mom's fax machine/printer also has a scanner option, so I can actually submit HAND DRAWN ART!
Hopefully all the damn tuition money we're pouring into my animation course will pay off enough to entertain y'all. Expect much Usopp art from me in the future, for he is my lover 
........I wish I could change my emoticon!mood on my journal. I'm not "Daily Needs". I'm damn tired!

Oy XD Neither would make much sense. But Usopp's less stubborn than Watanuki, so I guess the first way.

Well, Doumeki is very Kyouya-ish and has the same American voice actor as Kyouya too, so maybe Tamaki would be comfortable with him. But he already knows Kaoru, so I guess I'll go with him.
07) 2 (Usopp), 7 (Zoro), and 12 (Luffy) have dinner together. Where do they go, and what do they discuss?
Wow XD All Strawhats. What are the odds? Anyway, they'd probably just have dinner in the ship's kitchen as usual and talk about anything. Mostly about Luffy stealing their food

Awww....^__^ Totally. Intensely loyal, unbelivably sweet, very caring, hilariously funny, very down-to-earth, so adorable that it's squee-worthy, charmingly shy, comically nervous, easy to talk to, and quite good-looking in his own way.
2. 2 (Zoro) tells you about his/her deeply hidden love for 9 (Doumeki). Your reaction?
Nosebleed, faint, drool, rejoice, then laugh 'cause it'd be impossible to eavesdrop on them & tell who's who if they're both speaking in Japanese XD (LOL-same-seiyuu)

Provided he doesn't get too perverted around me, yes. He's gentlemanly enough and he'd be very kind to my mother & sisters. But my mom's not a fan of making food the center of one's life, and she'd think the "hair-over-one-eye" thing was weird XP

FRIENDSHIP PART

Friends, maybe. On account of the cowardly-yet-loyal part. But not soul mates

The character I'm the most like: Uhhhhh.....I can't think of anyone XD They're all either too cool or not cool enough. Maybe Kaya. Pale, blonde, sweet, and practically addicted to Usopp's company & his stories
The character I wish I were more like: Robin. I'd kill to be as cool and mature as her. She's the calmest crewmember, yet she still manages to have some hilarious moments of her own. Pwnsome. Luv ya, Robin-neechan!
The character I wish I could get rid of: Nami! >

The best looking character: Toss-up between Sanji & Zoro. They're both utterly gorgeous in their own way. ....maybe Sanji. Longer hair & an AMAZING sense of style....... Yeah, Sanji. Definitely
The character with the best personality: Almost everybody's personality is amazing. Maybe Luffy, I guess. He's very unique, and always throws us for a loop.
The funniest character: Luffy. But again, everybody's hilarious. Brook's a close second XD Then Usopp. Then Sanji.
The most boring character: Boring....boring...ummm............I dunno. A lot of the side characters for specific arcs are pretty boring, so I'll just say them as a whole. Gan Fal keeps coming into my head for this question, though....
The most annoying character: Vivi. When she's not angsting up a storm, she's just got zero personality.
The most tragic character: Brook.
The first character I fell in love with: Sanji was the first.
The character I used to not like but now I do: Franky, I guess. I didn't care about him one way or another, but now that I've seen more of him, he's supa ^^
The character I used to like more than I do now: Zoro
The character I like that everyone seems to hate: Usopp *cuddles* Dun worry, sweetie. You've got an army of over 8,000 fangirls. And that's the truth
The most overrated character: Nami
If I could date one character, I would choose: Ummm....dammit! *looks back & forth between Sanji & Usopp* ..........
If I could marry one character, I would choose: ...*still looking back & forth*
I want to have hot sex with this character: Okay, here's where you'd THINK I'd stop looking back & forth & just go for Sanji... And while I am leaning towards that direction, I'd still very much like to see Usopp in that situation. I mean, really! He's got a nice bod and really nice hair. And if he loved someone enough to go that far with them, I think he'd be surprisingly sexy Once he stopped panicking & cowering in the corner, that is XD
But ANYWAY...my final answer is Sanji. Romance & ultra-smooth seduction delivered by someone with amazing hair swooped over one eye and an friggin' stunning bod who's just got THE hottest seductive grin on the planet and a deep, silky smooth voice. Plus, he'd be worshipping me the entire time and that'd just put so much damn passion into it!

I think this character and I would make good friends: Robin ^^ She's mah homegirl. Usopp's another great friend choice. Me n' him would be the best of friends. Inseperable, I tells ya!

This character did something that made me mad: Pretty much any time Nami's a bitch to Sanji, especially considering every friggin' thing he does for her!
Although...I must admit I do get a bit of smug happiness from seeing her be bitchy to him, 'cause then it's just more proof that she's no good for him.
This character is the reason I keep watching the series: Usopp got me to look into the series, Sanji got me into the series, and now everyone's the reason I keep watching. Mostly Sanji, Usopp, & Brook, though XD
These two characters would make a good couple: Robin & Sanji. They've got such a nice repor ^^ And she's actually nice to him. I dunno. They just really seem like they would work.
These two characters would never work together: Nami & Sanji. She's a bitch to him & doesn't deserve his constant attention. And that aside, I just really don't see their personalities fitting together in a real relationship.

Well, Doumeki is very Kyouya-ish and has the same American voice actor as Kyouya too, so maybe Tamaki would be comfortable with him. But he already knows Kaoru, so I guess I'll go with him.
